Knights of the Old Republic

This is a wonderful series. The first book was a book of trust, friendship, hardship and overall anarchy. This book is about a boy named Zane Carrik who is a padwan in training to become a Jedi. He leaves the Jedi council to go find an escaped convict but comes back to see his friends murdered by his master. This is a big surprise and they blame the who thing on him. Now he is wanted throughout the whole galaxy. He needs to clear his name. I don't want to give a spoiler alert of what he does but you should read the graphic novel to find out. I highly recommend this book. It is amazing.

       This book reminded me an awful lot of The Giver. It takes place in a world where society is
controlled by the government. But it a overwhelming control. Everyone must remain the same. Anyone who is physically or mentally advanced are placed with handicaps that decelerate their advanced ability. And what ends up happening is a man who has handicaps placed on him, takes them off and claims himself emperor. This might have been his way of getting back at the corrupt government. But it ends up backfiring because the handicap general comes in and kills him with a shotgun.

Satire

       I would say that this is an example of  horation satire. Its horation because it ridicules the absurdities of humans and does make people have a "wry smile". In this cartoon, the cartoonist is simply making fun of the fact that college graduates will be in debt. They either don't have the money to pay off their college funds or they were not ready for a world with debt in it. It is laughed at because of the acceptance of the graduate. He knows what he has gotten himself into, making the reader have a laugh.

       I have been reading the third hunger games. This is after the uprising has happened  with Katniss Everdeen as the rebellions Leader. She is looked up to by many. This brings a lot of pressure to her as she doesn't want to make the wrong move and get people to dislike her for her actions. But she seems to have other things on her mind.

       Peta is with the capitol as they use him to say that he is against the rebellion. This causes confusion because everyone thought that Katniss and Peta were on the same page. So people start to think things about Katniss. But she still pulls through as a strong leader. And she seems to never get up with the help of her friends. I admire this because it takes a real leader to go through times where they are not trusted, and still make the right decision most of the time.

       I chose this book because I have read the first two and the movie is about to come out. I want to have the book read before I can go and see the movie. I love these series. They are action packed and have a lot of drama. I also seem to get attached to the characters. They make you feel as if you personally know them and have a relationship with them.

       The author also does a really good job of how to go about a pace with the book. On the slow boring parts that readers normally get bored in, she finds a way to fire through those parts, still leaving you with the important information that you need. and as you get toward the action parts she slows it down so you know whats going on.                                                                                    

The Time Machine

The Time Machine, is a book about a man who is obsessed with time and how it works. So he devotes himself to making a time machine. After years of working he eventually comes up with a working time machine. And he wants to go into the future. This is his only wish.

       As he's traveling through the future he finds himself 800,000 years into the future. At the year 802701. This is when he sees how much the world has changed. It is very different for him and he takes time to figure out the world. But this is when he discovers a whole new class of species. This is a very well written book and keeps you on your toes. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read.

The Fault In Our Stars

       The Fault In Our Stars was an amazing love story between to 2 high school lovers. Both, who were diagnosed with cancer earlier in their life. Hazel is the one with lung cancer and Gus has cancer all over his body. This book is about how they meet and fall in love while they both go through cancer problems. Also they both share the love for a book and they travel to Amsterdam to go see their favorite author. This was an exciting trip for both of them. 

       But on this trip is when they discovered Gus' cancer all over his body. This is the point of the story when you start to lose hope. You know that Gus cannot end well. And so they go back to America. This is when Gus starts to loose all strength. 

       Gus eventually died. This is the part of the book where everything seems to go wrong. But hazel realizes that they both fought hard and that he is in a better place.this is the fault in our stars
